ABSTRACT
So far, two major methods of analysis and design for steel shear walls have been introduced. In one of these methods, which is limited to the analysis and design of thin-walled shear walls, the steel sheet is replaced with a number of diagonal bars, and the frame and sheet are analyzed as a virtual system and ultimately designed. In this way, the designer can not, when designing, have any physical understanding of the behavior of the system, especially the interaction between the frame and the sheet of steel. Also, in this method, the solution for shear walls is not thickened and reinforced with openings. In another method, the PFI method, which complies with the thin, thick, reinforced, and also open-ended steel shear walls, is explained by the interaction between the steel frame and the sheet, and the designer, by understanding the behavior of the frame and steel plate and their interaction, is able to To apply its engineering judgments in design with full knowledge. In this research, the recent method of development and its accuracy in relation to reinforced steel shear walls has been investigated. For this study, experiments performed by Takahashi et al., Which were performed on twelve panels with reinforced sheets with different thicknesses and various reinforcements, have been used. The results show that this method has a good ability to predict the performance of reinforced steel shear walls.
INTRODUCTION
Steel shear wall is a seismic resistant system against lateral loads used both in short buildings and high-rise buildings. Its application in structures is reinforced in two ways and without reinforcement, the reinforced type is more in Japan and the type without reinforcement is mainly used in the United States and Canada.
