Urban factories and their potential contribution to the sustainable development of cities

ABSTRACT

more than half of the words population lives incitis today with the rate of urbanization futher  increasing. In urban areas the challenges of sustainable development are concentrated. The importance of sustainable cities and communities are recognized in the sustainable development goals by the United Nations, as are sustainable industrial development and responsible production. Industrial production and urban factories are an essential part of growing cities, though commonly associated with a negative environmental impact. To identify the potential contribution of urban factories to the sustainable development and growth of the cities around the world, the characteristics of urban production systems and their surroundings are matched to the sustainable development goals and their targets. Based on this analysis, the potentials are derived identifying the key action areas in which urban production can support economically, ecologically and socially sound cities of the future.

INTRODUCTION

Possibly the most important global challenge of our time is to ensure that our planet remains habitable and still provides enough resources for future generations. Against the background of a rapidly growing population and increasing resource consumption, strategies for sustainable development are required . The cities of the world are now home to more than than half of the worlds population. By 2050 more han two thirds of humankind are expected to live in urban areas. In urban areas, the challenges of sustainability are most evident in all dimensions. The social and economic dimension are nested
inside the environmental dimension. The degree of stability of all dimensions determines the resilience of urban systems. There are many global studies comparing cities on their quality of life based on one or all dimensions. According to the Global Metro Monitor the 300 largest metropolitan areas accounted .for almost half of the worlds  GDP with only a fifth of the global .population in the year 2014

چکیده

امروزه بیش از نیمی از کلماتی که مردم در آن زندگی می کنند، با افزایش میزان شهرسازی ادامه می یابد. در مناطق شهری، چالش های توسعه پایدار متمرکز می شوند. اهمیت شهرها و جوامع پایدار به عنوان اهداف توسعه پایدار توسط سازمان ملل متحد شناخته شده است، همچون توسعه صنعتی و تولید مسئولیت پذیر است. تولید صنعتی و کارخانه های شهری بخش مهمی از شهر های رو به رشد است، هرچند که معمولا با تاثیر منفی محیطی مرتبط است. برای شناسایی مشارکت بالقوه کارخانه های شهری در توسعه پایدار و رشد شهرها در سراسر جهان، ویژگی های سیستم های تولید شهری و محیط اطراف آنها به اهداف توسعه پایدار و اهداف آنها بستگی دارد. بر اساس این تجزیه و تحلیل، پتانسیل ها شناسایی مناطق عملیاتی کلیدی است که در آن تولید شهری می تواند شهرهای اقتصادی آتی را از لحاظ اقتصادی، محیط زیست و اجتماعی مورد حمایت قرار دهد.

شاید مهمترین چالش جهانی در زمان ما این است که اطمینان حاصل کنیم که سیاره ما قابل سکونت باقی مانده است و هنوز منابع کافی برای نسل های آینده فراهم می کند. در مقابل پس انداز جمعیت به سرعت در حال رشد و افزایش مصرف منابع، راهبردهای توسعه پایدار مورد نیاز است. شهرهای جهان اکنون بیش از نیمی از جمعیت جهان را تشکیل می دهند. انتظار میرود تا سال 2050 هان دو سوم از بشریت در مناطق شهری زندگی کنند. در مناطق شهری، چالش های پایداری بیشتر در تمامی ابعاد دیده می شود. ابعاد اجتماعی و اقتصادی در داخل ابعاد زیست محیطی قرار دارد. درجه ثبات تمامی ابعاد، قابلیت انعطاف پذیری سیستم های شهری را تعیین می کند. مطالعات جهانی زیادی وجود دارد که شهرها را بر اساس کیفیت زندگی خود بر اساس یک یا هر ابعادی مقایسه می کنند. بر طبق نظرسنجی Global Metro Monitor 300 بزرگترین مناطق شهری تقریبا نیمی از تولید ناخالص داخلی جهان را به خود اختصاص داده است که تنها یک پنجم جمعیت جهانی در سال 2014 است.
