ABSTRACT
The concept of ‘‘Smart Cities’’ is very important as it aims to uplift the living standards of the residents by greatly improving the City’s Infrastructure, Traffic management, Governance, Water and Waste management, Power management, Health systems, Safety and Security systems, Education systems etc. This paper describes the conceptof Smart Cities and enumerates its various benefits. It describes various Services and Applications required to make a City Smart and the role of ICT technologies in their implementation. Further, the challenges in the current ICT systems are discussed in their role to Smart City implementation. The paper discusses the proposed features of 5G technologies and describes how 5G could be the best answer for successful, implementation of Smart Cities. It lists down a few Smart City Use Cases which are enabled by 5G. 5G will act as the backbone of IoT and pave the way for the development of Smart Cities.
INTRODUCTION
The concept of ‘Smart Cities’ has become very important in developing economies. Here, we look at what exactly is a Smart City and why they are needed. The Services and Applications which are needed to be implemented to make a City ‘Smart’, is described in detail. There is no universally accepted definition of a smart city. It means different things to different cities. The conceptualisation of Smart City, therefore, varies from city to city and country to country, depending on the level of development, willingness to change and reform, resources and aspirations of the city residents. A smart city would have a different connotation in Brazil than, say, Europe. Even in a country, there is no one way of defining a smart city. The definition is constantly changing due to technology innovation. A city is a
complex system, involving many different domains, infrastructures, organizations and activities. All of these, needs to be integrated and work together effectively for that city to become Smart. A Smart sustainable city can be considered as an innovative city which uses multiple technologies and other means to improve the efficiency of the city’s operation and services, thereby enhancing the quality of life of its citizens and ensures sustainability with respects to economic, social and environmental .aspects
چکیده
مفهوم “شهرهای هوشمند” بسیار مهم است، زیرا هدف آن ارتقاء سطح زندگی ساکنین به وضوح بهبود زیرساخت های شهر، مدیریت ترافیک، مدیریت، مدیریت آب و فاضلاب، مدیریت انرژی، سیستم های بهداشتی، سیستم های ایمنی و امنیت سیستم های آموزش و پرورش و غیره. این مقاله شهرهای شهرک های هوشمند را توصیف می کند و مزایای مختلف آن را مورد بررسی قرار می دهد. این خدمات و برنامه های کاربردی مورد نیاز برای ساخت یک شهر هوشمند و نقش فناوری اطلاعات و ارتباطات در اجرای آنها را توصیف می کند. علاوه بر این، چالش های موجود در سیستم های فعلی ICT در نقش خود در اجرای Smart City بحث شده است. این مقاله ویژگی های پیشنهادی فن آوری های 5G را مورد بحث قرار می دهد و توصیف می کند که چگونه 5G می تواند بهترین پاسخ برای موفقیت، پیاده سازی شهرهای هوشمند باشد. این لیست چند شهر مورد استفاده در شهر هوشمند است که توسط 5G فعال می شود. 5G به عنوان ستون فقرات IoT عمل می کند و راه را برای توسعه شهرهای هوشمند هموار می کند.
مقدمه
