ABSTRACT

The war against climate change pitches mankind against a global threat that vastly eclipses that of  terrorism,1 in battles that have already claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of ordinary men and women from every continent. Climate change has led us into an era in which war and conflict are endemic,2 the widespread extinction of species approaches catastrophic proportions,3 andwhole regions and countries  will be lost beneath the swelling seas and the expanding deserts of a rapidly warming world. And the really bad news is that ‘the world has only one generation, perhaps two, to save itself’.4 We all instinctively know, already, that the climate is changing, from the small noticed things like the unseasonable patterns of the flowering of plants, the falling of snow and the growing in strength of the wind and the rain. With this  knowledge comes a growing apprehension of danger. Deep down, in quiet moments, we ask ourselves questions that a year or two ago were unthinkable:  ● What will I do when the lights do go out? ● Will the house flood next year? ● Will my home get so hot this summer that I won’t be able to stay in it? ● How long could I survive in this building without air conditioning? ● Where will we go? ● Will we survive? This book is written to enable you, the reader, to get a clearer view of the ways in which the climate is changing and how these changes will affect your life tomorrow and the day after, in the buildings, settlements and regions in which you live and work.

INTRODUCTION

Only by emotionally registering, by consciously taking on board, the scale of the impending global disaster ahead will any of us find the strength to act in time to avert the worst of its impacts. But not only do we have to act fast, we also have to act together. Actions will only be effective if we, all, act together because each of us is ‘involved’ in the fate of all mankind through the common air that we breathe and the climate we occupy  As you will see throughout this book, people can apparently be ‘familiar’ with the excellent science of climate change, and ‘know’ intellectually the problems that exists, but still fail to engage with them, or act upon that knowledge. We know now that many of the gases we emit from the burning of fossil fuels are  altering the climate.

چکیده

جنگ علیه تغییرات جوی در برابر تهدید جهانی که به شدت از ترویج تضعیف می شود، در جنگ هایی که قبلا جان صدها هزار تن از مردان و زنان عادی از هر قاره را گرفته اند، می باشد. تغییرات آب و هوایی ما را به دوره ای می اندازد که در آن جنگ و درگیری ها بومی هستند 2، انقراض وسیع گونه ها در معرض فاجعه بار است 3 و مناطق و کشورها در زیر دریاهای تورم و بیابان های در حال رشد یک جهان به سرعت گرم می شود. و خبر واقعا بد است این است که “جهان تنها یک نسل است، شاید دو نفر، برای نجات خود”. همه ما به طور غریزی می دانیم که آب و هوا در حال تغییر است، از چیزهایی که کمی متوجه شده مانند الگوهای غیر قابل قبول گل گیاهان، سقوط برف و افزایش قدرت باد و باران. با توجه به این دانش، خطر در حال افزایش است. در لحظات آرام، عمیق تر، ما از خودمان سوال هایی را که یک یا دو سال پیش پیش از این غیر قابل تصور بود از خودمان می پرسیدیم: ● وقتی چراغ ها خارج می شوند، چه کار کنم؟ ● سال آینده سقوط خواهد کرد؟ ● آیا این تابستان من خیلی گرم خواهد شد که من قادر نخواهم بود در آن باقی بمانم؟ ● چقدر می توانم در این ساختمان بدون تهویه مطبوع زنده بمانم؟ ● ما کجا برویم؟ ● آیا ما زنده ماندن؟ این کتاب به شما اجازه می دهد تا خواننده را برای دیدگاه واضح تر از شیوه های تغییر آب و هوا و نحوه تاثیر این تغییرات فردا و روز بعد در ساختمان ها، شهرک ها و مناطق که در آن زندگی می کنید نوشته شده است. و کار.

مقدمه

تنها با ثبت احساس عاطفی، با آگاه ساختن بر روی هیئت مدیره، مقیاس فاجعه آینده جهانی پیش رو، هر یک از ما توانایی خود را در جهت جلوگیری از بدترین اثرات آن پیدا می کنیم. اما نه تنها ما باید سریع عمل کنیم، بلکه باید با هم همکاری کنیم. اقدامات تنها زمانی موثر خواهد بود که همه ما با هم کار کنیم، زیرا هرکدام از ما در سرنوشت تمام بشر از طریق هوای مشترک که نفس می کشد و آب و هوا اشغال می کنیم، “درگیر” است. همانطور که در این کتاب می بینید، مردم ظاهرا می توانند باشند “آشنا” با علمی عالی از تغییرات آب و هوایی، و “علمی” شناختن مشکلات که وجود دارد، اما هنوز هم با آنها ارتباط برقرار نمی کند و یا بر این دانش اعمال می کنند. ما اکنون می دانیم که بسیاری از گازهایی که از سوختن سوخت های فسیلی منتشر می شوند، شرایط آب و هوایی را تغییر می دهند.
