ABSTRACT
Adding organic matter to soil is one of the methods for improving soil properties. With the increasing production of urban waste compost and sewage sludge, their use as a supply of soil organic matter plays an important role in soil properties changes and, ultimately, in the increase of agricultural production. However, with the constant use of organic and chemical fertilizers, the amount of nutrients required by plants such as phosphorus increases, but with the accumulation of phosphorus in the soil, the risks of surface water and groundwater pollution increase. Therefore, quantitative evaluation of the effect of these organic materials on most of the different types of fertilizers in the soil is essential for the optimal management of soil and water resources. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the effect of municipal waste compost and a fertilizer treatment on the amount, pH of organic matter, salinity of soil, equivalent calcium carbonate, water soluble phosphorus, available phosphorus and soil phosphorus adsorption index. In this regard, experimental treatments with 111 tons per hectare of urban waste compost and a fertilizer level (251 kg of urea with 251 kg of ammonium phosphate) and control (without fertilizer) were applied as a split plot design with completely randomized block design. The results showed that the highest cow manure and sewage sludge had the least residual effects on water soluble phosphorus. The highest amount of available phosphorus was observed in treatments with 5 years history of fertilization. Over time, fertilization reduces the amount of available phosphorus in the soil. So, in organic fertilizer treatments with 1 or 2 times loading, the amount of available phosphorus was less than those with 5 years history of fertilization. The soil phosphorous adsorption index, unlike other measured factors, was not dependent on fertilizer type and was most affected by the time interval since the last fertilization.
INTRODUCTION
Phosphorus is one of the important elements for plant nutrition and is called the main agricultural key because without phosphorus fertilizers, the production of plants in most soils is not satisfactory. Phosphorus deficiency is one of the most complex issues in soil fertility. Therefore, there should be a source of phosphorus in the soil to compensate for the soil soluble phosphorus deficiency. One of these methods is the application of organic fertilizers, which increases phosphorus mobility from organic and inorganic phosphorus sources in the soil.
