ABSTRACT
The time behavior of the injected sands with cementitious slabs with bentonite in different loading paths in this study has been investigated. Crushing experiments on injected specimens with different water-to-cement ratios as well as various bentonite percentages have been carried out in two ways of increasing deformation stress and reducing side tension. The results of the experiments show that the deformation of the time function causes damage to the injected sand under deviant stress below the compressive strength of the specimen. Additionally, the reduction of lateral stress increases the creep strain and may lead to failure of the samples at a constant deviation level. Factors such as water to cement ratio, percentage of bentonite, the amount of stress and the stress applied to our time-dependent behavior are influential.
INTRODUCTION
Nowadays achievement of mechanical stability in addition to chemical stability is one of the important goals in soil reform. In other words, the mechanical properties of the soil must be stable for a long time. One of the long-term sustainability characteristics is the behavior of the time function (Henn, 2003). Creep is a very important phenomenon that should not be discarded, as it can cause damage to the material at a constant stress level, even in tensions that are much less than the ultimate strength. In geotechnical engineering, the creep strain can cause serious damage, such as excessive landings or landslides (Ribay et al., 2006). Crushing results are presented on Ottawa’s injected sand. The results of the experiments show that the effect of the creep phenomenon on the ratio of stresses less than the final strength in the unconstrained compression test is associated with failure. By increasing the use of injection technology in problem solving, it seems that a better understanding of the behavior of the injected sand in different loading paths is needed to determine the failure time (Ata & Vipulanandan, 1999). Several studies have been conducted on the time-dependent behavior of sand-injected silicates. For example, (1977) Koenzen showed that stress-strain behavior of silica-injected sand is highly dependent on time. Clough et al. (1979) stated that when silica injected sand undergoes a constant stress (creep test), a significant reduction in its resistance occurs.
