ABSTRACT
The formation of gas hydrates is one of the most important problems in the process of natural gas due to saturation of moisture in natural gas. Due to the numerous advantages of conventional gas-liquid membrane contaminants, it is a good option for absorbing and separating the moisture from the gas stream. In this research, polyacetone-sulfone ketone is added to the polysulfone solution of porous membrane of hollow fibers with a developed structure of fuzzy isolation. Membranes were placed in the membrane contact module and were used to absorb moisture from the gas stream with triethylene glycol. The membranes were characterized by examining electron microscopic images, nitrogen permeation tests, degradation pressure, total porosity and surface contact angles. The results of moisture absorption test with triethylene glycol in membrane contact showed that the absorption flux of moisture increased with increasing fluid flow rate.
INTRODUCTION
Today, given the vast and growing prospects of the separation industry, everybody is looking for easier, faster and less costly methods to separate different materials. One of the most urgent needs of today’s energy is natural gas. Gas extracted from subfields contains volatile amounts of water vapor and acid gases of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide that should be separated from methane for domestic and industrial uses. The most important impurities in natural gas is humidity, which is very important for separation. If the wall temperature of the transfer tube or the natural gas storage tanks falls below the dew point temperature of the gas, the moisture in the natural gas begins to condense on the cold surface and causes problems such as hydrate formation, which results in the formation of hydrates Increased pressure drop, obstruction, partial or total eclipse of the gas pipeline and, in some cases, pipeline explosions. Dehumidification is essential in order to ensure optimal operation of the gas transmission operation in the pipelines. Membrane contaminant is a new method for dehumidifying and sweetening natural gas and replacing future absorption towers. In a membrane contact, the gas phase is located on one side of the membrane and the absorbing liquid phase is on the other side, and the water vapor passes through the membrane and dissolves in the adsorbant from methane.
