ABSTRACT
Recognition of soil properties such as shear wave velocity, shear modulus, and dip ratio in seismic geotechnical engineering issues is very important. These parameters can be obtained by seismic methods in place and measuring the velocity of propagation in the soil. Surface Spectrometry (SASW) is one of the most widely used seismic methods. In this method, the shear wave velocity is obtained by analyzing a large number of unstable seismic signals. Changing the frequency of these signals at the time causes them to become unstable. Therefore, for the precise determination of the seismic response spectrum of the soil layer in these signals, the use of the time-frequency spectrum is essential. The wavelet transform method is a new method that has many capabilities in the field of seismic surface wave analysis. By using wavelet transform, the seismic response spectrum of different soils can be identified and proved the validity of the experiment. In this paper, wavelet data was analyzed using surface wave data recorded on one of the sites of the UKM University of Malaysia. The time-frequency spectrum obtained from this analysis clearly showed the seismic response spectrum of the sand layer of the desired layer. The recognition of the sand layer by this method is very well suited to the results of laboratory tests and seizures performed on other M University sites. Another result of this analysis is the good performance of wavelets in the noise of seismic signals, which proves the importance of choosing this method during geotechnical research.
INTRODUCTION
Surface Spectral Surface Analysis (SASW) is a seismic method in situ that is used to determine the dynamic properties of soils, such as shear wave velocity, Vs shear modulus, G and D recession ratio. This test is also used to determine the elastic modulus in the licensed systems (eg, asphalt treatment). These parameters are determined based on the spatial characteristics of the surface waves. Since the velocity of the surface waves depends on its wavelength (or frequency), these waves can be released at different wavelengths in different layers. For example, waves of high frequency (short wavelengths) propagate in layers near the surface of the earth, while low-frequency waves propagate in addition to superficial layers in deep layers.
