ABSTRACT
In each dredging operation, such as road construction, damping, etc., the density of the cured layer must be measured and, if the density is reached to a specified extent, it is necessary to fill the next layers or finish the operation. Typical methods of measuring soil compaction, due to time, tend to slow down the embankment process. Also, using these methods, it is possible to measure soil density only in limited locations. The relatively new method of measuring the density is by means of a device mounted on a vibrator roller and measuring and registering the density of soil continuously. The basis of this machine is to measure the interaction between rollers and soil. For the first time in Iran, this device is used in the soil-gravel dam-making bathtub. In this paper, while introducing the device, a sample of the results on the materials of this dam is presented. The results indicate that it is possible to reduce the density measurement experiments using this device, and it is also possible to measure continuous condensation and, consequently, the uniformity of the compressed layer, as well as other results from the use of this device.
INTRODUCTION
In projects such as road construction and damping, which have massive ground operations, it is necessary to reach a certain level in order to obtain the required parameters of the embankments. Due to the changing nature of the earth’s materials, as well as possible changes in the process of compacting, parts of the embankment may be lowered or more than the required amount, resulting in a non-uniform ditch; this non-uniformity may result in non- Uniform or cracks in the dams. Conventional congestion control methods are mainly carried out by measuring the density in situ using a water balloon, a water balloon, a water replacement method, and so on. These methods measure the density of soil at limited points; considering this, uniformity control is not practically possible. It is also time consuming and costly to use such methods; in the end, these methods delay execution of the operation due to stopping the operation until the compression results are achieved in order to fill the next layer; this may take up to several days.
