ABSTRACT
Indigenous knowledge is the solution that has been experimentally developed over the years by humankind generations to solve their problems. So that, with the death of each of these people, their experimental and traditional knowledge also disappears quickly. The present research in west of Iran in the Sarab area of Shahrak-olay, Kurdistan province, explores the indigenous and traditional knowledge of the people about the identification of some of the pigments and their use in the dyeing industry. In this research, we tried to collect and document the necessary information using interviewing and observing methods with participation. Finally, all information was categorized and edited. Depending on the results of the study, pathogenic plant species were identified and introduced. Also, the findings indicate that the people of the study area have good information about the dyeing plants and the way they are prepared.
INTRODUCTION
The use of natural colors in the coloring of natural fibers such as wool, cotton, silk and leather, as well as the use of traditional methods and instructions in this field, goes back far too far. So that the plants that have been dyeing in the dye industry so long ago have a special place, and it can be said that from the time that humans recognized the color, they also became familiar with colored plants. After centuries of industrial and technological progress, many of the dyeing materials used today as chemical dyes have plant roots. In addition, the synthesis of any natural color spectrum is both difficult and costly, which creates a new difficulty in the composition. Also, due to the variety of colors and finishes that are created in natural colors, natural colors are considered and are of great value.
