ABSTRACT
Recently, phenols in water and sanitation have been very much considered due to environmental sustainability and health problems. Therefore, we must eliminate them and prevent water pollution. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of apple peel absorbent in removing phenol from aqueous solutions. In this study, after the preparation of the acetone phenol solution, the effect of effective parameters on absorbance, pH, contact time, adsorbent and initial phenol concentration were investigated. The experiments are repeated twice and the percentage of removal is presented as an average. The results of the experiment showed that phenol absorption efficiency was inversely correlated with increasing contact time and dose of adsorbent directly with increasing pH and increase of phenol concentration. In general, this study showed that apple skin has a good ability to remove phenol. Considering that apple peel is a waste of canned and compote industries and is produced a great deal each year, the use of this adsorbent is recommended to remove phenol from wastewater.
INTRODUCTION
Industrial and human activities produce large amounts of wastewater and wastewater, which, in the natural environment, have a great impact on the environment and humans. These facts, in addition to the need to re-rotate this water for new uses, require sewage treatment to achieve the required quality. Phenol 1, one of the semi-volatile aromatic hydrocarbons, is found in sewage from most industries, such as oil refineries, resin and plastic products, textiles and leather, chemical manufacturing plants, iron melting, metal casting, dyeing and glass fiber products from 1 to 7,000 mg Per liter (Vida et al., 2007). Phenol and its derivatives are one of the largest hazardous compounds in industrial wastewater. Phenolic compounds that enter the environment through humans through chemical, oil, dyeing or pharmaceutical industries. These compounds have been introduced into ecosystems by landfill or industrial wastewater (asset and colleagues).
