ABSTRACT
The earthquake in the province of Chuan in 2008, Pakistan’s 2005 earthquake in 2005, and the Bam earthquake in 2003, are examples of natural disasters that have been incredibly damaging to children. In such events, the management context, family members, health care providers, and school staff are the first beneficiaries of child welfare. Psychologists are well aware of post-traumatic responses, and with the necessary methods to help children and adolescents who have been traumatized. Nevertheless, patterns of accountability to severe disasters are limited, especially in remote geographical areas and areas where mental health services are not fitted. In this paper, while investigating the effects of earthquakes on children, some strategies have been proposed to increase the life span of children after the earthquake.
INTRODUCTION
Some of the recent earthquakes have left heavy costs for children and young people. China’s seventh state earthquake killed more than 68,200 people, wounded 375,000, and left 15 million homeless. The earthquake can be cited as one of the biggest events for children in the past decade, with more than 10,000 children being killed as a result of the destruction and collapse of their schools, about 4,700 orphans were killed and millions of them lost their homes, or Not able to attend school. The Pakistani earthquake in 2005 affected 3.5 million people, of which 2.2 million were children and 86,000 were killed. The earthquake occurred at the time of school openness and many children were buried under the rubble of the school. The earthquake occurred on January 5, 1382, at 3am early in the morning when most of the city’s inhabitants were asleep, and this could be considered as a factor in the increase in casualties. More than 25,000 casualties and about 50,000 casualties were announced, and more than 100,000 were homeless, many of whom were children. In earthquakes that occur throughout the day, like the Armenian earthquake in 1988, the first blow to many of the surviving children is to see the painful deaths of their classmates. In addition, many of them are wounded or subjected to debris, and they face a lot of problems as long as people come to their aid. Children who eventually come to their parents will have a long time to find their families, or they will know whether their family members are alive or not.
