ABSTRACT
The formation of the supernatant on surfaces of some metals and alloys in contact with electrolyte solutions or their atmosphere protects them from corrosion. Today, it has been determined that the stability of the supernatant depends on its electron and ionic properties. But the mechanisms governing the formation and breaking of the surface layer have not yet been fully elucidated. In fact, determining the governing mechanisms is a prerequisite for the effective protection of metals from corrosion. In this regard, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is one of the best ways to achieve this goal. Therefore, in this research, 316 L stainless steel corrosion resistance in 0.05M H 2 SO 4 solution was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Intermittent impedance studies showed that the high corrosion resistance of 316 L stainless steel due to the formation of the surface layer on the surface and consequently It produces a half-circle at high frequencies in all Neukhetest curves in the range of overlap.
INTRODUCTION
Stainless steel 316 L has been considerably appreciated due to its wide application in environments where cavity resistance is required. Although this steel has 2 to 3% by weight of molybdenum, in environments with corrosive components such as Cl or oxidizing conditions It suffers from localized corrosion, such as corrosion of the cavity or cavity. In many technological applications, the surface of some metals and engineering alloys is covered by a thin oxide layer that plays a major role in preventing corrosion and typically has a thickness of less than 10 nm. In many cases, these layers are formed as a result of immersion in water or air. Also, these layers can also be formed under controlled electrochemical methods.
