ABSTRACT
In this paper, the calculation of the static active pressure distribution of hollow walls in frictional soils and frictional adhesion soils has been considered. In these walls, the slope of the wall is lower than the vertical axis. Based on equilibrium equations for critical fracture wedge and also based on the horizontal components method, two formulas have been proposed and the results have been compared with the results of the relationships provided by other researchers. The results of this study show that the high precision horizontal parts method is able to obtain the pressure distribution on the wall and the angle of the wedge wedge. While this method is effective for different soil and wall conditions, it can consider the friction angle between the soil and the wall, soil adhesion, the slope of the ground behind the wall and the effect of overhead. Based on the formulation obtained from the horizontal components of the distribution of active soil pressure for the beam wall in both types of soil, the study is nonlinear and the yield point is less than one third of the height. In this paper, the formulation for calculating the pressure applied to the walls is presented with a strip overlay effect.
INTRODUCTION
Calculation of active pressure on retaining walls is one of the important issues in geotechnical engineering. For vertical walls, the distribution of pressure on the wall and also the angle of critical failure wedge in grained and sticky soils are well explained. Rankin (1857), regardless of the friction angle between the soil and the wall, and assuming that the wedge of critical fracture with an angular horizon of 45 + Q / 2, yields the parameters for the right wall. Also, Coulomb (1776) calculated the pressure on the wall for soils without adhesion. Matsuo (1929) and Mononobe and (1926) Okabe, using the Coulomb (1776) solution for quasi-static conditions, and assuming no sticky soil, the active pressure on the wall And also Zarabi Kashani (1979) presented a relationship for determining the angle of a wedge of a rupture in the Mononobe-Okabe method. Finally, Chang (2003) examines the distribution of active pressure for the vertical walls, however, When applied to the wall in the form of a sleep, it is rarely considered by previous researchers (Ghosh (2008) using the equilibrium calculation method The active pressure on the wall is of interest.
