Enhancing DNS Security using[taliem.ir]

Enhancing DNS Security using Dynamic Firewalling with Network Agents

In this paper we propose a solution to strengthen the security of Domain Name System (DNS) servers associated with one or more Top Level Domains (TLD). In this way we intend to be able to reduce the security risk when using major internet services, based on DNS. The proposed solution has been developed and tested at FCCN, the TLD manager for the .PT domain. Through the implementation of network sensors that monitor the network in real-time, we are capable to dynamically prevent, detect or limit the scope of attempted intrusions or other types of occurrences to the DNS service. The platform relies heavily on cross- correlation allowing data from a particular sensor to be shared with the others. Administration tasks such as setting up alarms or performing statistical analysis are made through a web-based interface.

Basic Concepts and Taxonomy of Dependable and Secure Computing

This paper gives the main definitions relating to dependability, a generic concept including as special case such attributes as reliability, availability, safety, integrity, maintainability, etc. Security brings in concerns for confidentiality, in addition to availability and integrity. Basic definitions are given first. They are then commented upon, and supplemented by additional definitions, which address the threats to dependability and security (faults, errors, failures), their attributes, and the means for their achievement (fault prevention, fault tolerance, fault removal, fault forecasting). The aim is to explicate a set of general concepts, of relevance across a wide range of situations and, therefore, helping communication and cooperation among a number of scientific and technical communities, including ones that are concentrating on particular types of system, of system failures, or of causes of system failures.

Energy-efficient and high-accuracy secure data aggregation in wireless[taliem.ir]

Energy-efficient and high-accuracy secure data aggregation in wireless sensor networks

Due to the inherent characteristics of resource-constrained sensors, communication overhead is always a major concern in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Data aggregation is an essential technique to reduce the communication overhead and prolong network lifetime. Since data aggregation results are usually used to make critical decisions, the accuracy of final aggregation results is very important. Furthermore, as wireless sensor networks are increasing being deployed in security-critical applications, we should take security into consideration as well. Therefore, for such applications, data aggregation protocols must be highly energy efficient and highly accurate while being able to prevent an adversary from stealing private data held by each sensor node. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient and high-accuracy (EEHA) scheme for secure data aggregation. The main idea of our scheme is that accurate data aggregation is achieved without releasing private sensor readings and without introducing significant overhead on the battery-limited sensors. We conduct extensive simulations to evaluate the performance of EEHA. Our analysis and simulations show that EEHA is more efficient and accurate than the existing scheme.
Trust based approaches for secure routing in VANET A Survey[taliem.ir]

Trust based approaches for secure routing in VANET: A Survey

Vehicular Ad-hoc networks (VANETs) require trusted vehicles to vehicles communication. VANET is multidimensional network in which the vehicles continuously change their locations. Secure routing is imperative during the routing process to incorporate mutual trust between these nodes. Sometimes, the malicious node broadcast the bogus information among other nodes. Establishing trust is a challenge while one or more malicious nodes attempt to disrupt route discovery or data transmission in the network. A lot of research has been carried out for secure routing process with trust-based approaches. In this paper, we present survey of various mechanisms to improve different ad-hoc routing protocols for secure routing process by enhancing the trust among different nodes in VANETs.
A Survey of Security and Privacy in Big Data[taliem.ir]

A Survey of Security and Privacy in Big Data

Big data has been arising a growing interest in both scientific and industrial fields for its potential value. However, before employing big data technology into massive applications, a basic but also principle topic should be investigated: security and privacy. In this paper, the recent research and development on security and privacy in big data is surveyed. First, the effects of characteristics of big data on information security and privacy are described. Then, topics and issues on security are discussed and reviewed. Further, privacy-preserving trajectory data publishing is studied due to its future utilization, especially in telecom operation.
