ABSTRACT
Nonlinear finite element method is one of the known numerical methods in structural analysis, which is widely used in the nonlinear analysis of deep reinforced concrete beams due to the complicated behavior of RC members exposed to corrosion. In this paper, 16 concrete reinforced concrete samples, previously tested by the authors, were used to analyze the non-linear analysis using ANSYS software using finite element method. In constructing these samples, different designs of shear reinforcement with different areas were used. The analyzed samples were modeled with simple reinforced concrete beams at their two ends. The samples were loaded with two equal points which were applied to the upper beams of the beams to two symmetrical points. Using the results of the analysis, the behavior, final capacity and hardness of the tested specimens were compared with the laboratory observations. Investigations have shown that satisfaction of results is satisfactory with laboratory data. Since the results of numerical methods are affected by the values of the input variables, in this paper, by calibrating the given data, a reliable range for these data was introduced that their use can provide safe and yet economical results.
INTRODUCTION
The study of the behavior of reinforced concrete deep beams, one of the most important RC members, has been the subject of many researchers’ research, all attempting to identify the factors affecting the shear capacity of these RC members. Due to the failure of concrete deep beams in various ways, the overall behavior and final capacity estimation is particularly complex. Most of their analysis and design relationships are based on the results of empirical or quasi-experimental models. Finite element method is one of the most useful numerical methods that is widely used in solving linear and nonlinear problems of two or three dimensional structures. Nonlinear analysis, which is one of the branches of this method, is a suitable solution for analyzing the behavior of such structures due to the characteristics of nonlinear behavior in RC arcs. Because of the presence of tensile cracks in concrete members in general, the existence of multi-axial stresses in concrete and the sinking of the shear or tensile reinforcements leads to nonlinear behavior.
