ABSTRACT
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is currently one of the most common liver disorders. Diet and obesity are closely linked to the development of this disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the acquired weight, serum leptin levels, and changes in the expression of PGC-1α gene in the animal model of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis resulting from a high-fat diet containing corn oil in Sprague-Dawley rats. For this purpose, eighteen male rats, Sprague-Dawley breed were divided into two groups. The normal control group received a normal diet. The high-fat diet group, in addition to the normal diet, received a high-fat emulsion with corn oil for six weeks in a daily gavage. After six weeks in a high-dose diet, corn oil, despite the development of symptoms of osteochondrosis, can increase leptin levels, reduce food intake and prevent obesity. Therefore, obesity is one of the most important factors in fatty liver disease due to fatty and overeating. But at the same time, a high-fat diet without obesity can also cause illness, and the type of dietary fat is involved in the disease.
