ABSTRACT
Most of Iran’s land area is dry and semi-arid, and the soil is inherently susceptible to erosion and degradation. Understanding of soil characteristics and important soil quality indicators, such as soil organic carbon and nitrogen content, are necessary for sustainable use of this land. In this regard, from arable land and lands of Bajestan, two depths of 20-0 and 20-40 cm soil sampling was conducted in a completely randomized manner to provide a model for estimating the organic carbon of the soil at different times. For presenting the model, path analysis and stepwise regression were used. Regression results indicated that humidity and nitrogen parameters had a direct effect on carbon content with coefficients of 95 (at both depths) and 54 (20-0 cm) and 35 (40-20 cm) respectively. Organic soils and models account for about 85% of carbon changes. On the other hand, according to the average organic carbon in both surface layers (1/09 percent) and sub-surface (1 percent), it shows how farmers manage these lands because they are located in a semi-arid climate Expecting a lower average is going to be carbon. Regarding the important and important parameter of organic carbon, soil management seems to be a good management of soil conservation through the conservation of soil from the erosion of fine particles, and due to the amount of fertilization and its erosion, it will save the potential of carbon storage in agricultural ecosystems.
INTRODUCTION
Soil, an important and valuable ground source in the storage of organic carbon, plays a significant role in the global carbon cycle of the atmosphere. On the other hand, organic carbon is one of the important parameters determining soil fertility, the ability of Waleed and an important indicator in showing the quality of soils in arid and semi-arid regions where the inputs of carbon are insignificant. On the other hand, the unprecedented increase in CO2 concentration in the atmosphere, followed by bioremediation and climate change, is considered to be the most important environmental crisis of the current century. This increase is mainly due to combustion of fossil fuels (25%) and land use change (25%). According to the Kyoto Protocol (1997), attention to the soil’s ability to conserve and treat carbon has increased to help reduce its loss. Because, after the oceans, soil is the largest source of carbon storage.
