ABSTRACT
Pollution of groundwater resources with nitrate is now one of the most important environmental issues. Nitrate is the earliest form of nitrogen in the soil, due to its high solubility in water, it is easily washed out by soil or irrigation and transferred to surface or underground water. The importance of identifying groundwater pollution, which accounts for one third of the world’s drinking water, and increasing demand for water, highlights the growing need for powerful, accurate, and reliable predictive models. Models that are able to learn and generalize concepts and can be used in issues of estimation, forecasting, management, and control in various aspects of water resources. Smart models and data-driven modeling are some of the newest methods that are rapidly expanding in a variety of scientific fields. Among them, support vector machines are a new and powerful tool in providing solutions for categorization and regression that has high utility and good performance even in the presence of low data in comparison with other data-driven methods. Therefore, in The present study uses this method to predict the concentration of nitrate in the Arak plain aquifer using qualitative parameters that can be easily measured, such as temperature, electrical conductivity, groundwater level, location of the well, TDS, DO and pH. Is. The obtained results based on the measurement error estimation criteria, including RMSE, R2, are equal to and 111/75/0/0, respectively, which shows a fairly good prediction of the concentration of nitrate.
INTRODUCTION
Groundwater resources are one of the most important water resources in nature and the main source of drinking water in many parts of the world, and even in some rural communities, is the only water supply that is exploited through the digging of wells, springs, or qanats. In ground regions such as Iran, groundwater resources have a significant share in the supply of drinking water and agriculture. But the threat that threatens these sources is their pollution by harmful substances that humans entail as a result of negligence and ignorance of natural environments. Today, due to the presence of domestic, industrial and agricultural pollutants, groundwater is severely threatened. Groundwater contaminants are very wide-spread, including landfills, transmission lines, storage tanks and agricultural activities.
