ABSTRACT
Internal corrosion of natural gas pipelines is a natural intrusion prevention device in the pipeline industry, which has been considered by researchers and industry in recent years. Most of the damage was due to the presence of CO2 and H2S, each of which has its own specific causes. The environmental conditions inside the pipe vary in different gas transfer lines. Even along a pipeline, the physical and chemical conditions inside the pipe at the end of the path are not the same as the initial conditions of the line. For this reason, understanding the effect of physical and chemical factors on the internal corrosion of the pipeline is very important. In this research, the factors affecting the corrosion of steel used in natural gas transmission pipelines are investigated by the presence of CO2. Dynamic potential electrochemical experiments were carried out in a standard cylindrical rotary cylinder (RCE) standard container and CO2 saturated at 60 ° C and 80 ° C. Aluminum alloy steel cylindrical samples of API 5L X70 have been tested and tested. The results show that the corrosion rate increases with increasing temperature, but decreases over time in two temperatures, which can be due to the formation of a superficial layer of protection.
INTRODUCTION
More than 50 years have passed since the first carbon dioxide-induced gas dispute in the oil and gas industry. Dozens of papers have been published on the investigation of the internal corrosion mechanism of the underlying pipelines (CO2, referred to in this article as corrosion of CO2). However, there is still no complete understanding of the mechanism of this kind of corrosion and the exact role of the factors affecting it. Some researchers consider the existence of an exacerbating factor in this type of corrosion; while others consider the same factor under certain conditions to slow down corrosion.
