ABSTRACT
Considering the wide circle of buried pipelines (vital arteries) to serve humans through the transfer of water and oil and gas and other fluids, it is necessary to study the behavior of such structures against earth provocations such as earthquakes, especially land-based displacements at fault location Activator seems necessary. In this paper, the behavior of a part of the gas buried pipeline at the site of the passage of the slip fault is investigated using finite element theory, taking into account the interaction between the soil structure and the application of materials with the elasto plastic behavior for the pipe and soil. Nonlinear static nonlinear earthquake analysis has been performed on the models, and extensive parametric studies have been done with regard to the pipe diameter, pipe thickness, soil parameters and the degree of displacement of the fault.
INTRODUCTION
Human beings are always exposed to natural disasters such as floods, storms, earthquakes. Meanwhile, the earthquake, as the most important failure factor, may have caused many problems for human life through damage to oil, gas, water and underground drainage pipelines. Recent earthquake studies indicate that major seismic failures in gas and oil pipelines have been caused by persistent earth movements such as fault displacement. This has been reported abundantly in earthquakes such as the 1971 San Fernando earthquake and the 1995 Kobe earthquake. Newark and Hall were the first to attempt to guess the mechanical response of the tube using a simple model including a long, low-displacement cable that was directly related to the slippery friction of the soil. The work carried out in this article is a part of the extensive study on the mechanical behavior of buried HDPE pipelines passing through the slip fault for different soil conditions. The ANSYS 12 nonlinear computer program was used to model the pipe and soil using a limited implementation theory. In this modeling, the tube is used as a cylindrical shell of 80 meters in length using a SHELL 63 model and the surrounding soil is considered as two mesh blocking blocks using the SOLID 45 element. The displacement of the fault is applied by horizontal motion of the two blocks, and according to the pipe diameter, pipe thickness, soil profile around the pipe, and the displacement of the fault, parametric studies will be carried out and the results will be presented graphically.
