ABSTRACT
Efforts to use new technologies have grown dramatically in various industries. One of them is the nanotechnology that can be achieved by manipulating materials in the atoms with lighter, more solid, cheaper, cleaner, and more precisely dimensioned materials. On the other hand, with the advancement of separation processes, the use of nanoparticles in the manufacture of membranes in order to isolate different materials in different industries and also to improve the properties of the membrane are of particular importance. Silica nanoparticles are one of the nanomaterials that can be used to make membranes and improve some of the membrane’s properties, including hydrophilic modification, and increase its anti-fouling effect. There are many methods for making nanoparticles, including sedimentation, sol-gel, chemical vapor deposition, and thermal decomposition. The purpose of this study is to apply a method for the synthesis of silica nanoparticles, which, in addition to the ease of the method, can synthesize this nanoparticle in the shortest possible time. To determine the structure of synthesized nanoparticles, X-ray diffraction (XRD) scanning electron microscopy (SEM) infrared Fourier transform (FTIR) spectroscopy was used. From the results, it was found that parameters such as how to add substances, temperature, how to dry and away the device affects the structure of the synthesized material.
INTRODUCTION
The interest in nanotechnology dates back to 1996-1998. In 1960, Richard Freeman at the American Society of Physics Conference held a major breakthrough in nanotechnology. Nanotechnology can be defined based on the components of its name, namely, nanotechnology and technology. Nanotechnology is the ability to produce new materials, tools and systems by taking control of the molecular and atomic levels and using the properties in which the surfaces appear. This technology plays an important role in various industries, including food, medicine, medical diagnosis and biotechnology, including electronics, computers, communications, transportation, energy, the environment, materials, aerospace, and national security. Nanoparticles are particles in the range of about 1 to 100 nm. Nanoparticles have unique properties that are related to their physical size. They can be produced from a wide range of materials, the most common of which are metal oxide ceramics, silicates, non-oxide ceramics. Nanoparticles have different shapes, including sheet, spheroidal, and so on.
