ABSTRACT
This paper examines the effect of two types of sedimentation processes (T73 and T7351) on the mechanical properties of AA7075 alloy, followed by the effects of each of them on the stress resistance induced by tensile corrosion (SCC). The heat treatment of T7351 increased the strength of AA7075 alloy compared to the T73 condition due to the formation of sediments on dislocations. The percent reduction in cross-sectional area and the percentage increase in length also increased in T7351 compared to the T73. However, all mechanical properties such as strength, decrease in cross-sectional area and percentage increase in length were reduced by the presence of samples under SCC conditions. The decrease in cross-sectional area and the decrease in the percentage of prolongation due to the placement of specimens under SCC conditions in T73 and T7351 samples were 14 and 5.9% respectively, suggesting better resistance to SCC in T7351 conditions than T73, due to increased strength and removal Residual stresses are due to the tensile process after quenching in T7351.
INTRODUCTION
In the aerospace industry, a wide range of AA7xxx series high strength alloys is used due to the strength to weight ratio and the high cost of their strength. Over the past 30 years, various alloys have been produced with a variety of chemical compounds of the AA7xxx series, in addition to mechanical properties such as strength and toughness of fracture, good resistance to cracking stress (SCC), including AA7075 alloy due to high strength More attention has been paid to SCC and proper strength. Due to the particular attention to the resistance to SCC in this alloy, it is used in specific industries such as aerospace, nuclear and chemical, which is the main reason for the destruction of materials in these industries due to the presence of favorable conditions, the phenomenon of SCC. This phenomenon results from the simultaneous application of tensile stresses and corrosive environments on the metal. As a result, two important parameters in the formation of SCC are tensile stresses and corrosive environments. Each metal requires a specific tensile stress and a special corrosive environment for the occurrence of SCC, so that if the tensile stresses are below this stress limit, SCC does not occur. In fact, the stronger the tensile strength, the resistance to SCC also improves.
