ABSTRACT
In this research, samples of hot working tool steel at two temperatures of 500 and 550 ° C, two times and 10 5 hours, and two gas combinations of 75% H2 25% -N2 and 25%% H2 75% -N2 were measured using a pulsed plasma nitrogen device Nitrogenized directly on a semi-industrial scale. The thickness of the intrusive region and the combined layer of the samples were examined by X-ray diffraction by scanning electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy and phase-forming phases. Also, sub-toughness changes from surface to depth were measured from the cross section of samples. The results show an increase in the depth of the intrusive region by increasing the parameters of temperature, time and percent of nitrogen. With an increase in temperature from 500 to 550 o C for 5 hours and a combination of 25% gas, H2 75% -N2, the depth of the intrusive region increased from 128 95 micrometers. Also, the hardness in the intrusive region increased with increasing temperature and time. The thickness of the white layer increased with increasing temperature and percentage of nitrogen, but increasing the time reduced the thickness of the white layer.
INTRODUCTION
One of the most important applications of surface engineering is the creation of a hard layer (to increase the abrasion resistance) on the surface of a toothbrush (impact resistant). Different surface hardening operations are performed to achieve this goal, which is nitrogenation of these methods. Nitrogenization along with other surface hardening methods is used in the processing of steel parts and some other metals such as titanium and aluminum alloys. In this regard, the nitrogen method, which is a kind of thermosetting surface treatment, is one of the processes of interest in the industry. The basis of the work is the creation of atomic nitrogen and its penetration into the surface of the piece. Atomic Nitrogen, at the surface of materials such as steel, aluminum, chromium and titanium, contains hard phases such as Cr2N, CrN, AlN, Fe4N, Fe3N, Fe2N and TiN. Typically, plasma nitrification is performed in a chamber at a pressure of about 1 millibar (approximately 100 Pa). By creating a plasma state between two electrodes embedded in the enclosure, the ionizing gas is ionized and hit the surface of the piece located in the cathode at a high speed. The bombardment of the surface of the piece by these ions causes it to be cleaned by the mechanism and sprayed.
