Introduction
It is obvious that we are only beginning to see the Internet of Things (IoT) gaining momentum. According to International Data Corporation’s recent report [1], 212 billion IoT devices will be deployed by 2020. The question is no longer focused on how many IoT devices will be connected and deployed in our lives. Instead, the focus is now on how to efficiently handle the explosion of data traffic stemming from IoT devices. We have already witnessed the recent explosion of mobile data traffic. Cisco’s report published in February 2015 [2] confirmed that mobile data traffic grew 69 percent in 2014, reaching 2.5 exabytes per month at the end of 2014.
