ABSTRACT
The purpose of the present study was to determine the role of positive and negative emotions induction in creative problem solving with regard to extraversion and fluency dimensions. Method: The present study is an experimental design; the creative problem solving capacity was evaluated based on intergroup comparisons. On the other hand, the effects of positive and negative emotion induction were examined in the context of intergroup comparisons. The statistical population of this study was students of Isfahan universities. Candidates who participated in the general classes of the university first completed the revised version of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and then numbered 03 based on the final scores of the distribution in two dimensions E and P for the two extroverted and high discretionary groups (23 each). were chosen. Each subject was subjected to two experimental trials twice (once positive emotion and once negative emotion) and then completed creative problem solving tasks. Results: Comparison of the groups in the creative problem solving capacity variable showed that the extroverted group performed better than the high psychoactive group. The disaggregated analysis of emotion-related findings revealed that in the extroverted group, creative problem solving was more in the positive emotion state, but the high psychoactive group in the negative emotion state had greater creative problem solving capacity. Conclusion: The findings of the present study confirm the theory of low arousal and Martindale creativity. The results also show the different effect of emotion variable with respect to index effect. In other words, different effects of positive and negative emotions are considered according to the dimensions of the index.
