ABSTRACT
PCA and LDA are two well-known methods for extracting attributes and reducing the dimensions of the signal-specific space and are widely used in high-dimensional issues such as face detection. But the weaknesses of these two methods in confronting a small number of large sample sizes and facial images have led the researchers to take measures to improve these weaknesses. Methods such as LDA (2D) 2, 2DPCA, 2DLDA, (2D) 2PCA have been developed to improve classical PCA and LDA techniques. In this paper, we will examine and compare these methods in terms of efficiency and speed. To this end, we apply all these methods to the two sets of ORL and YALE data and calculate the accuracy and speed of each of them, taking into account the number of different teaching samples. And compare. The results of these tests indicate that the proposed PCA (2D) approach seems reasonable as a reliable method and with an appropriate implementation time in the field of extracting facial image characteristics.
INTRODUCTION
Face Detection has been one of the most prominent research topics in the field of intelligent systems over the past few decades. This issue has been studied in different branches and with different perspectives. In general, there are two main categories of facial recognition: feature-based geometric methods that address the local components and features of the face, such as the eyes, nose, lip, etc., as well as the relationships between them. Another is the apparently based methods that use the whole face image to extract the characteristic, such as PCA and LDA. An analysis of PCA3 or the main components is one of the most commonly used basic methods, which is usually used to reduce the size of compression and face detection. PCA is known as a special space converter, which, based on a linear transformation, converts the image space into a smaller space. This method seeks to find special vectors of the covariance matrix of the image.
