ABSTRACT
In project management, the problem of probability is called “risk” and risk management. Risk, which itself is a combination of the probability of the effect and severity of the effect, can affect the performance indicators of the project, including time and cost, and quality. One of the most efficient tools used in probable predictions and risk analysis is the Monte Carlo analysis that calculates the number of single components of a set based on the production of random numbers, and determines their impact on the entire set. This analysis, by repeating the process, expresses the general result of the set as a probabilistic function. In the traditional approach to project control, which is still dominant in most national projects, estimating the probable time and probable budget of the project is still unknown to managers and experts. In this research, it is attempting to use a case study and the use of capabilities Software, a model for considering the probability and risk in the estimation of the probability of completion of the project at a specified time and the cost of the project termination is applied in practical terms.
INTRODUCTION
Today, the use of various simulation methods has become popular in the field of various sciences. Although the use of this tool has long been used in humanities and economics, its widespread use dates back very recently. Familiarity with this tool and the identification of its strengths and weaknesses will provide new facilities for researchers, faculty, graduates and experts. Among the various simulation methods, the Monte Carlo method is more suitable for research and financial and economic calculations than other methods. The issue of uncertainty and risk is a phenomenon that is now considered one of the pillars of project management. Decision-making in combination with risk requires prediction of future status. In the Standard of Knowledge Management Project (PMBOK, 2004), Monte Carlo simulation is introduced as a method of quantitative risk analysis. In this method, we can model phenomena that have two specific components (project activities) and random (time and cost of activities). In a random component, features such as probability distribution, mean, confidence intervals and variance are usually introduced.
