ABSTRACT
In this research, the effect of membrane processes of nanofiltration and reverse osmosis on reducing the soluble materials from drinking water in the city of Birjand was investigated. The reduction of sample water samples from the northern city reservoir was investigated by pilot filters by nano filtration and reverse osmosis filters. Then, the study process was simulated with ROSA software and compared with laboratory results. The results of the case study showed that the process of reverse osmosis and nanofiltration in all operating pressures have very high removal efficiency, and the results of modeling with ROSA software are very close to experimental results.
INTRODUCTION
The movement of groundwater from different geological formations as well as water capacity as a suitable solvent will dissolve the various salts in the waterway and, consequently, increase the salts in it. The high levels of solutes that are cationic and anionic, multi-capacity, can cause problems both in industrial and public use. Generally, in water treatment, the main ways are used: – Conventional method – New methods of water purification The conventional water purification method is not capable of removing salts in water. Therefore, new methods of water treatment are used for this purpose. Among the methods used to remove TDS from water are: • Electrodialysis procedure • Ion exchange method • Membrane method to remove salts from water and to meet the relevant standards of this parameter, which is also referred to as salinity. There are several options, among which membrane processes have succeeded greatly because of economic reasons and simple guidance. Many researchers have looked at the salinity of drinking water. An example of research in this area is AM .nif et al. In a 2006 study to evaluate membrane processes for desalination of salty water, showed that at low operating pressure and as a result of low effluent, the removal rate of these ions for the nanofiltration process And reverse osmosis are 96% and 98% respectively, and the percentage of single-capacity ion removal by nanofiltration membrane is up to 18.5%. However, in the reverse osmosis membrane, the removal rate of mononuclear ions would be between 80% and 90%.
