ABSTRACT
One of the challenges and concerns of humankind today is environmental pollution, although pollution is produced in many forms, but the main sources of pollution are the most polluting sources of environmental pollution. Due to the high importance of air pollution prevention in many countries, automobile companies have used automotive converters to reduce motor vehicle emissions, but so far no comprehensive research has been done on the effect of catalyst life on gas contaminants. Therefore, in this research, The effect of the catalytic converter on the exhaust emissions from the TU5 engine has been investigated. The agent in this study was a catalyst, which was examined in four levels including a new catalyst, a catalyst with a flow of 04,000 km, a catalyst with a flow of 04,000 km, and a catalyst without catalyst. In terms of four treatments (factor number × surface number), the traits measured were five types of contamination of gas (O2, CO, NOX, CO2, HC). Gas emission testing in standard conditions (according to Iran Khodro standard) has been performed in three replications. The data were analyzed in a completely randomized design. The results of the experiments showed that catalytic converter does not have a significant effect on the absorption of CO, HC and NOX pollutants after working for more than 4,000 km and also without catalyst. Also, the catalyst converter has been poorly absorbed by the NOX pollutant after about 4,000 km. According to the results of this study, it is recommended that the catalyst be replaced after 04,000 km and not be eliminated at all.
INTRODUCTION
Recently, one of the challenges and concerns of humans is environmental pollution, although pollution is produced in many forms, but the vehicles within the main burning are considered to be the most common sources of environmental pollution. Some experts have cited 70 percent of air pollution in vehicles. These statistics indicate that the most important problem is the creation of air pollution from vehicles and moving resources (everything that consumes energy and fuel). In Iran, more than 70 million liters of gasoline are consumed every day, and about 35 million Iranians are exposed to air pollution. The three major pollutants in the exhaust emission of combustion engines are carbon monoxide, CO unburned hydrocarbons and NOx nitrogen oxides. Among the energy subsystems in Iran, the transport sector is responsible for about 6.98% CO and 96.3% HC.
