ABSTRACT
The Kahjian Village in Natanz, Isfahan Province, is one of the important ancient sites of melting of metals in Iran. Archeological studies on pottery have been estimated by ten in that area of about 600 years. At that time, they made melting furnaces on slopes of the hills. The study of slag in the region can be found in the type of ore and its melting method. X-ray analysis of slag reveals that the ancestors were able to achieve an optimal mix of slag. The analysis of SEM-enclosed copper balls in slag shows that the melt consists of three phases, in addition to the background phase, they have deposited two secondary phases. The ores used in that period are of malachite and azorite type, and the molten is produced by the resuscitation method. Under laboratory conditions, this ore is produced at a temperature of 1200 ° C and is similar to that of the copper balls of the ancients, which confirms the accuracy of this claim.
INTRODUCTION
The Iranian plateau is one of the richest lands in the world for the arts and metal industry. The first signs of confrontation, a man with metal in this land in the seventh millennium BC tells the truth. In connection with Iran, evidence suggests that human beings are familiar with free copper while living in plains. Capability, ductility, redness, sharpening, and diverse applications, as opposed to stone tools, have become precious in pre-history as a valuable item. On the other hand, free copper could not be found everywhere, and it increased its worth. The existence of ancient sites, the old deposits of slag accumulation metals along with the mines and the remains of ancient mining, confirms the richness of the land in terms of mining and melting of metals. One of the important areas of melting of ancient metals in Iran is the area around Kashan and Natanz.
