ABSTRACT
In this research, the effect of different cycles of thermal treatment on the corrosion behavior of aluminum alloy alloy was studied. In this regard, the samples were automatically welded to 4043 using a GTAW method. Different cycles of heat treatment including T6 operations and discontinuous dissolution and debridement, before or after welding were applied to the specimens. The microstructure of the weld region was studied by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with an EDS analysis system. The corrosion behavior of the specimens was investigated by TOEFL polarization test and intermittent immersion test. Water environment was 3.5% w / v sodium chloride with pH 5.5 as a corrosive medium. By applying different cycles of heat treatment, the welding metal was placed in a cathodic position than the base metal, so the resistance to corrosion was more pronounced. Corrosion level study after polarization test confirmed the locality of corrosion. The coarse scattering deposits in the microstructure were the proper place for germination and localized corrosion. However, there were no significant differences in the rate of corrosion of the weld area in the various heat treatment combined with welding.
INTRODUCTION
Aluminum alloys have always been of interest to manufacturers and craftsmen due to their unique properties, such as high strength, high strength, good brittleness and good corrosion resistance. Of these, the 6000 series alloys are the most important alloys used in the automotive and aerospace industries. The important characteristics of the alloys of this group are their ability to precipitate hardness, which during their operation, T6, the strength of them is significantly increased. In the alloy group of 6,000 aluminum, the main alloying elements are magnesium and silicon or copper. Group 6000 alloys do not have the structure of a solid solution, but their microstructure consists of coarse intermetallic compounds and impurities that are dispersed by mechanical work in the soft aluminum. Intermetallic compounds occur during the casting process as a result of the reaction between impurities and alloying elements. Homogenization operations can change the phase and morphology of these compounds.
