Facial Bone Contouring Surgery

ABSTRACT

The Western proverb says that “beauty is only skin-deep.” So, is it true? I do not agree. If that is true, plastic surgery might be only a single chapter in dermatology. Moreover, many plastic surgeons complain that even after a successful operation on one’s eyes or nose, the overall change on the patient’s aesthetics is not that big at all. Now we all know very well that without any change on this shape of the face, there are limitations with any other kind of cosmetic surgeries. The shape of one’s face is constructed with bone. The marked differences between Caucasian and Asian face mainly come from the facial bone structure. Now we can say that “beauty is bone-deep.”

INTRODUCTION

  Ethnicity is one of the major factors that create difference in the facial bone structure. For example, as most Caucasians are dolichocephalic, the majority of Asians are brachycephalic (Fig. 1.1). This can be understood by considering the development of the skull based on sutures. We all know the difference in shapes of the skull and face between brachycephaly and scaphocephaly. As the dolichocephalic features of the face of Caucasians resemble to that of scaphocephaly, the brachycephalic Asian face corresponds to the features of brachycephaly. Facial shape in the frontal view also differs between racial groups. The faces of Caucasians tend to be long and narrow, while the faces of Asians tend to be wide and short. Consequently, Asian face usually gives a square impression (Fig. 1.2). When we travel around the world, we can easily differentiate people from Asia and Europe, because their facial structures are totally different. Now, the following question should be asked, “which face is beautiful ?”

ضرب المثل غربی می گوید: “زیبایی تنها پوستی عمیق است”. پس آیا درست است؟ من موافق نیستم. اگر درست باشد، جراحی پلاستیک ممکن است فقط یک فصل در پوست باشد. علاوه بر این، بسیاری از جراحان پلاستیک حتی پس از عمل موفق در چشم یا بینی خود شکایت می کنند، تغییر کلی در زیبایی شناسی بیمار به اندازه کافی بزرگ نیست. اکنون همه ما به خوبی می دانیم که بدون هیچ گونه تغییری در این شکل صورت، محدودیت های هر نوع جراحی زیبایی وجود دارد. شکل چهره با استخوان ساخته می شود. تفاوت های برجسته بین چهره قفقازی و آسیایی عمدتا از ساختار استخوانی صورت صورت می گیرد. حالا می توان گفت که “زیبایی استخوان عمیق است”.

مقدمه

قومیت یکی از عوامل اصلی ایجاد تفاوت در ساختار استخوان صورت است. به عنوان مثال، همانطور که اکثر قفقاز ها دلیچوسفالی هستند، اکثریت آسیایی ها برشیسفالیک هستند (شکل 1.1). این را می توان با در نظر گرفتن توسعه جمجمه بر اساس بخیه ها درک کرد. ما همه تفاوت ها در شکل جمجمه و چهره بین brachycephaly و scaphocephaly را می دانیم. همانطور که ویژگی های دلفی از چهره قفقازی ها شبیه به scaphocephaly است، چهره آسیایی برشیسفالیک به ویژگی های برویچهفالی مربوط می شود. شکل صورت در نمای جلو نیز بین گروه های نژادی متفاوت است. چهره قفقاز ها طولانی و باریک است، در حالی که چهره های آسیایی ها گسترده و کوتاه هستند. در نتیجه، چهره آسیایی معمولا یک تصور مربعی می دهد (شکل 1.2). وقتی که ما در سراسر جهان سفر می کنیم، می توانیم مردم را از آسیا و اروپا جدا کنیم؛ زیرا ساختار چهره آنها کاملا متفاوت است. در حال حاضر، سوال زیر باید بپرسید: “چهره زیبا است؟”
